Psychological fitness
A counselor's psychological fitness ensures they are mentally and emotionally prepared to handle the demands of their profession. This includes maintaining personal well-being, managing stress effectively, and being self-aware of one's own biases and limitations to provide ethical and effective client care.
Self-awareness
Self-awareness is foundational to effective counseling practice. It involves an ongoing commitment to examining one's own values, beliefs, biases, and emotional triggers to ensure they do not interfere with the therapeutic alliance or cloud objective clinical judgment. Through continuous reflective practice, supervision, and personal growth, I cultivate a deeper understanding of my own identity. This awareness allows me to remain present, empathetic, and attuned to the diverse perspectives and needs of every client I serve.
